- Salary: $200k - $300k
- Locations: Philadelphia
- Job Type: Full Time
- Job Category: Infrastructure
Description
We are hiring a Senior HPC Systems Engineer to design, build, and operate the compute, storage, and networking platforms that power our research and production trading systems. You will shape the firm’s high-performance infrastructure — from bare-metal clusters and GPU farms to ultra-low-latency network stacks — working closely with traders, quantitative researchers, and platform engineers to deliver predictable, extreme performance and high availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy and scale large-scale HPC compute and storage platforms that support research and production workloads.
- Implement and optimise low-latency networking and transport (RDMA, DPDK, kernel bypass, precision time sync), working with network and trading teams to minimise end-to-end latency.
- Performance-tune Linux systems and GPU training/inference pipelines for maximum throughput and determinism.
- Build automation and tooling for provisioning, monitoring, and lifecycle management (Ansible/Chef/Salt, CI/CD for infra).
- Profile, root-cause and resolve performance regressions in production and staging; develop benchmarking and observability to detect microsecond-level regressions.
- Collaborate with quant researchers and ML engineers to optimise training and inference workflow
Required Skills
- 5+ years designing and operating high-performance compute or low-latency systems, ideally within a quantitative trading, fintech, or HPC environment.
- Deep Linux systems expertise: performance tuning, NUMA, kernel/network stack optimisations, and systems debugging.
- Hands-on experience with networking for HPC/low-latency: RDMA, DPDK, kernel bypass, hardware timestamping, and time sync.
- Strong scripting and engineering skills (Python, Bash), plus experience with automation/config management
