The role would suit an engineer who enjoys working close to physical infrastructure while also contributing to technical architecture and design decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver low-latency data centre infrastructure across new and existing environments.
- Produce rack layouts, connectivity plans, cable schedules, power requirements and technical documentation.
- Plan and execute rack-and-stack installations for servers, switches, appliances and specialist hardware.
- Install, configure and test copper and fibre cabling, optics, patching and network connectivity.
- Support the deployment of high-performance network environments using 10/25/40/100GbE or higher.
- Work with network, systems, trading and application engineering teams to define infrastructure requirements.
- Evaluate hardware, network devices, optics and cabling for performance, resilience and suitability.
- Commission new equipment and complete post-installation validation.
- Troubleshoot hardware, cabling, optics, power and connectivity issues.
Required Skills
- Data centre design, rack layouts, structured cabling and physical connectivity.
- Rack-and-stack installation of servers, switches and network appliances.
- Fibre, copper, patch panels, transceivers and optical testing.
