Description
We are hiring a SRE with Development experience to join a highly technical production team supporting a live trading platform. The successful candidate will take ownership of the system during trading hours, providing hands-on support, diagnosing live issues and helping ensure the platform operates reliably and efficiently.
This is a production-facing Systems Engineering role with a strong Python development focus. You will work closely with engineers who build and maintain the underlying trading algorithms, gaining a deep understanding of how the system and code operate in real time. Working on short and long term projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a strong understanding of the firm’s technology stack, trading workflows and underlying algorithms.
- Diagnose and resolve complex production issues across systems, applications, infrastructure and trading workflows.
- Write and maintain high-quality Python code to support, automate and improve production systems.
- Read and interpret C++ code to understand system behaviour, identify issues and support engineering investigations; C++ development experience is not required.
- Work closely with developers, quantitative engineers and trading stakeholders to improve reliability, observability and operational efficiency.
Required Skills
- Strong Python engineering background, ideally from a Computer Science or software engineering degree.
- Must be a genuine Python engineer, not someone who has only used Python for scripting or basic automation.
- Experience owning or supporting production systems, with the ability to troubleshoot live issues quickly and effectively.
- Ability to read and understand C++ code, even if not actively developing in C++.
- Strong understanding of Linux, systems fundamentals and production operations.
